Choose Dental Sedation

For some, there’s no fear deeper than scheduling a visit with their dentist. Lots of people let it prevent them from having their regular cleanings! At our Carmichael office, we don’t want anything to come between you and the best dental care possible; that’s why Marconi Dental Group offers convenient and distinct levels of dental sedation for our patients to choose from.

Laughter Is The Best Medicine…

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, has been used as a dental for over 100 years. Although it gives you a somewhat euphoric feeling, the reports of laughter are somewhat exaggerated! Administered through a soft mask placed over your nose, the gaseous mixture takes the edge off and may make you feel like you are thinking extremely profound thoughts, but it does not control pain. You will still need to have anesthetic injections in order to not feel anything. However, once your procedure is finished, you will begin feeling normal again within a few minutes. You’ll be able to drive yourself home and continue about your normal business.

“Knock Me Out Please!”

For some patients, even the thought of being awake in the dentist’s chair is too much. For other patients, nitrous reacts with their body chemistry to make them more nervous than they were initially. Marconi Dental Group offers another solution to help make your dental appointments easier: light conscious oral sedation. This prescription sedative will be given to you about an hour before your treatment starts. It will leave you very calm and relaxed and just this side of conscious! You’ll be able to hear and respond to the dentist, but after the medication wears off, you might not remember it! Be aware that you’ll need to bring a buddy with you to your appointment since you will be unable to drive for 24 hours.

IV Sedation for Deep Relaxation

Marconi Dental Group in Carmichael is one of the area’s few dentist offices to provide in-house IV sleep dentistry. This option lets you tune everything out completely, in the safety of our family dental practice.

Which Is Best For Me?

Nitrous is a great, thoroughly tested option if you have a short procedure and low levels of anxiety. You may be able to use it only during the injection stage or for a limited time at the beginning of the procedure. On the other hand, if you have reactions to general anesthetic, or are extremely nervous about your visit, Halcion or Valium may be a better option for you. Light conscious sedation works well for longer, more involved procedures since it lasts a few hours before wearing off. IV sedatives may be preferred for more complex procedures. Our Carmichael dentists can work with you, regardless of which option you choose.

Don’t let anxiety make you put off your dental care. Call Marconi Dental Grouptoday to find out how we can help you relax during your next trip to our Carmichael dentist office.
